Mercedes CLS Class 2013: A Detailed Feature Overview

The 2013 Mercedes CLS Class offers a blend of luxury and performance, boasting a range of standard features and optional upgrades across its models, including the CLS550, CLS550 4Matic, and the high-performance CLS63 AMG.

For the CLS550 and CLS550 4Matic, standard features include 18-inch wheels and an adaptive air suspension for a smooth ride. Bi-xenon headlights and LED running lights ensure visibility, while auto-dimming rearview and driver-side mirrors, along with a sunroof, add convenience and style. Inside, dual-zone automatic climate control, 10-way power front seats with memory and lumbar support, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and leather upholstery provide a comfortable and luxurious environment.

Technology in the CLS Class 2013 is well-appointed with a 7-inch video display operating the COMAND interface, a navigation system, and voice controls. Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio streaming, Mercedes’ mbrace2 telematics system, and a premium 14-speaker Harman Kardon surround-sound audio system with a six-CD changer, HD radio, and satellite radio ensure occupants are connected and entertained.

Stepping up to the CLS63 AMG brings enhanced performance and exclusive features. It’s equipped with a more powerful twin-turbo V8 engine and a specialized transmission. Visually, it stands out with 19-inch wheels and a sport-tuned adaptive suspension for more dynamic handling. The interior gains a sport steering wheel with shift paddles and upgraded leather upholstery, enhancing the sporty feel. Practical upgrades include a power rear sunshade and split-folding rear seats, the latter being optional on the CLS550. An iPod/USB audio interface is also standard in the AMG model. For those seeking even greater performance, the AMG Performance package offers increased power, a higher top speed, a more aggressive suspension tuning, carbon-fiber engine cover and rear spoiler, and a faux suede-trimmed sport steering wheel. Further performance options for the AMG include forged alloy wheels, a limited-slip differential, and carbon-ceramic brakes.

Both the CLS550 and CLS63 AMG models can be further enhanced with optional packages. The Premium 1 package adds adaptive LED headlights and automatic high beams for improved nighttime visibility. A rearview camera and a power trunk closer enhance convenience, while keyless ignition/entry, and heated and ventilated front seats elevate comfort. For the CLS550, the Premium 1 package also includes a power rear sunshade and an iPod/USB audio interface, features that are standard on the CLS63 AMG, which instead receives front seats with active bolsters and massage within this package.

For driver assistance technology, the Lane Tracking package includes blind-spot and lane-departure warning systems. The Driver Assistance package expands on this with adaptive cruise control and enhanced, active versions of the lane keeping assist features. Parking is simplified with the Parktronic package, offering front and rear parking sensors along with an automatic parking system. Stand-alone options include an infrared night-view display for enhanced visibility in low-light conditions, heated rear seats for passenger comfort, and a high-end Bang & Olufsen surround-sound system for audiophiles (availability may vary). Specifically for the CLS550, a heated steering wheel and massaging front seats with active bolsters can be added as individual options.

The 2013 Mercedes CLS Class delivers a compelling combination of standard luxury, performance upgrades via the AMG line, and a comprehensive suite of optional packages and standalone features, making it a versatile and desirable vehicle in its class.
