Mercedes Vision: The One-Eleven Concept – A Futuristic Leap for Automotive Design

Mercedes-Benz has once again captivated the automotive world with the Vision One-Eleven Concept, a vehicle that doesn’t just hint at the future – it feels like it’s gliding in from another dimension. This stunning concept car is a testament to Stuttgart’s engineering prowess, where the pursuit of the unknown leads to groundbreaking innovation.

Drawing inspiration from the iconic Mercedes-Benz C 111 of the 1960s and 70s, a true revolutionary in its era, the Vision One-Eleven reinterprets classic design for the electric age. From the striking gullwing doors to the vibrant copper-infused orange paint, this concept car is designed to evoke both awe and intrigue. Powering this “Mercedes Vision” is a cutting-edge, highly compact axial-flux motor, paired with revolutionary battery technology developed by YASA, a Mercedes-Benz AG subsidiary specializing in electric motors. This collaboration between YASA and Mercedes-Benz is pushing the boundaries of electric performance driving.

The compact nature of the motor allows for an unexpectedly spacious, lounge-like interior, a feature rarely seen in sports cars. With seats seamlessly integrated into the floor, the cabin showcases sustainably processed white-and-silver leather with an elegant diamond-quilted pattern. Inside this “mercedes vision”, occupants can tailor their driving experience with two distinct modes: Lounge and Race. Lounge Mode reclines the sculpted seats, suggesting a future where autonomous driving is paramount. Conversely, Race Mode lowers and positions the seats back, channeling Formula 1 racing inspirations.

In a nod to retro technology, the slender display stretching across the dashboard features large-format pixels, an 8-bit design element that serves as a piece of digital art. This deliberately coarse imagery contrasts with the razor-sharp resolution of the digital screen positioned beside the steering wheel, creating a unique visual juxtaposition.

Further enhancing the user experience, the Vision One-Eleven incorporates the Magic Leap 2 augmented reality headset, transforming science fiction into reality. This system immerses occupants in an alternate environment, effectively turning the entire car into an interactive user interface with contextually relevant information seamlessly integrated into their surroundings. This “mercedes vision” of in-car technology is truly forward-thinking.

Extending the allure of this concept beyond the vehicle itself, Mercedes-Benz has launched the LIMITED EDITION 1 OF 111 lifestyle collection. This exclusive range includes items like a weekender bag, sunglasses, a hoodie, cap, and an iPhone 14 Pro cover, each echoing the car’s striking orange and silver color scheme. Emphasizing exclusivity, only 111 of these lifestyle products will be available.

The Mercedes-Benz Vision One-Eleven made its grand premiere at the Mercedes-Benz International Design Center in Carlsbad, California, marking the beginning of its journey to inspire the future of automotive design and performance. This “mercedes vision” is not just a concept; it’s a bold statement of intent from Mercedes-Benz.
