Jaime Lumbreras, born in Mercedes, Texas, on February 19, 1967, peacefully passed away at his home in Preston, Idaho, on December 31, 2020, at the age of 53. His life, which began in the heart of Texas, touched many and left a lasting legacy.
Growing up in Mercedes, Texas, Jaime attended Mercedes High School before furthering his education at Texas State Technical College. His dedication and strong work ethic were evident throughout his 35-year career at Gilt Edge Flour Mills, where he served as the mill superintendent. Beyond his professional life, Jaime was deeply devoted to his family, especially his two sons, Cori and Tyson. He was a supportive father, coaching them in little league football, baseball, and basketball, shaping not only their athletic skills but also their character.
Sundays were special in the Lumbreras household, often filled with the aroma of BBQ and the excitement of watching the Dallas Cowboys. An adventurous spirit, Jaime cherished his annual elk hunting trips to Tin Cup with Cori and Tyson, creating lasting memories in the great outdoors. These moments, from the familiar landscapes of Texas to the mountains of Tin Cup, defined a life lived to the fullest.
Jaime’s roots in Texas remained strong throughout his life. His parents, Marian and Ofelio Muniz of Harlingen, Texas, and father, Enrique Lumbreras of Mercedes, Texas, along with Melinda (OSCAR) Lumbreras Reyes of Lavilla, Texas, Ofelio (Sonny) Muniz of San Antonio, Texas, Christopher (Mayra) Muniz of Mission, Texas, and Ron Muniz of Harlingen, Texas, all mourn his passing. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, reflecting the large and loving family he was a part of.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Von Oral Noyes and Isidro Lumbreras, his grandmothers, Donna Noyes and Ufracia Lumbreras of Mercedes, Texas, and his brother, Edward Lumbreras. Funeral services to honor Jaime’s life were held on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Webb Funeral Home in Preston, Idaho, with interment at Fairview, Idaho Cemetery.
