Mercedes faced their toughest challenge yet to their turbo-hybrid era dominance. Lewis Hamilton narrowly missed securing the drivers’ championship, losing to Max Verstappen of Red Bull, despite winning eight races. However, the Mercedes AMG Petronas Team managed to clinch their eighth consecutive constructors’ title, showcasing their consistent performance and teamwork.
2020
Just when it seemed impossible to improve, Mercedes AMG Petronas Team, and particularly Lewis Hamilton, reached new heights. The reigning champion achieved 11 race wins and shattered numerous records on his way to equalling Michael Schumacher’s seventh drivers’ title. This was accomplished despite Hamilton missing a race due to Covid-19. Valtteri Bottas added two more wins, securing another dominant double championship for the Silver Arrows.
