The story of Lokey Automotive Group began with a vision in 1952 when Earle B. Lokey established Lokey Oldsmobile in downtown Clearwater, Florida, on Cleveland Street. Seven years later, in 1959, demonstrating foresight and ambition, Earle Lokey expanded by acquiring land amidst orange groves on Gulf to Bay Boulevard, a move considered unconventional at the time, to launch Lokey Motor Co. This bold decision proved pivotal, as Lokey Motor Co. achieved a significant milestone in 1966, becoming the first authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer in the entire state of Florida. This marked the beginning of the enduring legacy of Lokey Mercedes.
The 1970s saw the next generation of Lokeys stepping into the family business. Earle Lokey’s twin sons, Paul and Philip, began their careers within the company, learning the ropes from the ground up. Following Earle’s passing in 1986, Paul and Philip Lokey assumed leadership, guiding the company into a new era of growth and diversification.
Under the direction of Paul Lokey, Lokey Oldsmobile evolved into the Lokey Automotive Group, a testament to their expanding automotive empire. This group now encompasses a range of dealerships, including Lokey Volkswagen, Lokey Nissan, Lokey Kia and Subaru of Port Richey. Despite this growth, the core mission of the Lokey Automotive Group remains unchanged: to cultivate lasting customer relationships by consistently delivering exceptional service and value.
Today, the Lokey Automotive Group’s footprint extends across the Tampa Bay area, from Port Richey to Clearwater, serving a wide customer base. Their commitment to customer satisfaction is evident in their knowledgeable sales consultants, ready to assist customers in finding the perfect vehicle, and their expert service advisors, dedicated to vehicle maintenance and care. Lokey Mercedes and the wider Lokey Automotive Group continue to uphold the values established by Earle B. Lokey, providing quality vehicles and exceptional service to the Florida community.
