2010 Mercedes Benz E550: Exploring the Features and Packages

The 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class offered a range of models, each with distinct features and performance levels. While the E350 provided a solid foundation of luxury and technology, stepping up to the 2010 Mercedes Benz E550 introduced a significant boost in power and amenities. This model catered to drivers seeking a more exhilarating driving experience and enhanced comfort.

The standard E350 came equipped with features like 17-inch wheels, a sunroof, power-adjustable steering wheel, power front seats with memory, MB-Tex vinyl upholstery, dual-zone climate control, auto-dimming mirrors, the COMAND interface, Bluetooth, and an eight-speaker stereo with a CD changer and auxiliary input. The E350 Coupe shared many features but added a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, sport seats, and a single-CD player.

However, the 2010 Mercedes Benz E550 distinguished itself by incorporating a more powerful V8 engine, delivering a noticeable increase in performance compared to the E350’s V6. Beyond the engine upgrade, the E550 also included an air suspension system, enhancing ride comfort and handling dynamics. An upgraded braking system provided increased stopping power to match the V8 engine’s performance. Inside, the E550 offered standard leather upholstery, elevating the cabin’s luxury feel, and heated front seats for added comfort in colder climates. In contrast, the E550 coupe featured 18-inch wheels, a sport body kit, a sport suspension, and shift paddles for a more engaging driving experience, but it omitted the heated seats found in the sedan version.

For both the E350 and 2010 Mercedes Benz E550 sedans, the Sport package was available, adding sporty visual and performance enhancements. This package included 18-inch wheels, a sport-tuned suspension for sharper handling, a sport steering wheel, and unique interior trim accents.

Further enhancing the features of the 2010 Mercedes Benz E550 and E350 models were the optional Premium packages. The Premium 1 Package included a hard-drive-based navigation system, voice control, a rearview camera for easier parking, heated front seats (for E350 sedan and all coupes), ventilated front seats (for all sedans), a power rear sunshade for rear passenger comfort, and a Harman Kardon surround-sound system with digital music storage, HD radio, satellite radio, and iPod/MP3 connectivity. The Premium 2 package expanded on Premium 1 by adding adaptive bi-xenon headlights for improved nighttime visibility, adaptive high-beam assist, LED daytime running lights, a power trunk closer (sedan only), keyless ignition/entry for convenience, and ventilated seats (for coupes). For sedan models, the Driver Assistance package offered advanced safety features, including blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control for maintaining a set distance from the vehicle ahead, and a lane-departure warning system.

Standalone options for the 2010 Mercedes Benz E550 sedan allowed for further customization. These included parking sensors to aid in tight maneuvers, an infrared night-vision display for enhanced visibility in low-light conditions, a panoramic sunroof for an open-air feel, split-folding rear seats for increased cargo flexibility, a rear-seat entertainment system for passenger enjoyment, expanded leather upholstery options, and a multicontour driver seat with massage function for ultimate driving comfort.

At the top of the range was the E63 AMG. The E63 AMG encompassed all the features of the 2010 Mercedes Benz E550 and then amplified performance with an even larger V8 engine, a sport transmission for quicker gear changes, adjustable drive settings to tailor the driving experience, an adaptive sport suspension for superior handling, high-performance brakes for maximum stopping power, and a sport steering wheel. The E63 AMG’s Premium 1 package was streamlined to include only navigation, rearview camera, and voice control, as much of the other equipment was already standard on this high-performance model. The Premium 2 package and most of the individual stand-alone options were also available for the E63 AMG, and an AMG Performance package further enhanced performance with 19-inch wheels, a limited-slip differential for improved traction, even sportier suspension tuning, and a leather/Alcantara steering wheel.

The 2010 Mercedes Benz E550 offered a compelling upgrade over the E350, providing a more powerful engine, enhanced features, and a greater degree of luxury, positioning itself as a strong choice in the E-Class lineup for those seeking a balance of performance and refinement.
