Mercedes-Benz is amplifying its North American lineup with exciting updates to the 2025 eSprinter, introducing a new 81 kWh battery option, a standard roof, and a 144” wheelbase. These additions provide customers with greater flexibility and choice, tailoring the electric van to a wider range of commercial needs. Alongside these new configurations, both the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and the 2025 eSprinter are now available for order, boasting the latest generation of MBUX, enhanced safety and assistance systems, and numerous digital features. Set to arrive at dealerships in the latter half of 2024, the Sprinter will start at $50,830, while the 2025 eSprinter will have a starting price of $61,180.
Expanding the 2025 eSprinter Range to Meet Diverse Customer Demands
The 2025 Mercedes-benz Esprinter is engineered with modularity at its core, mirroring the versatility of its combustion engine counterpart. This design philosophy makes the eSprinter an appealing solution for a multitude of industries and applications, offering zero-emission transportation without compromising on adaptability. North American customers now have an alternative to the 113 kWh battery, 170” wheelbase, and high roof combination, with the introduction of an 81 kWh battery variant available with different wheelbase and roof height options. This strategic expansion allows businesses to precisely configure the eSprinter to their operational requirements, balancing payload and range.
By offering varying battery capacities, Mercedes-Benz addresses a spectrum of business needs, from local urban deliveries to regional transport tasks, all while optimizing the total cost of ownership. For businesses prioritizing maximum payload, the 144” wheelbase with a standard roof can accommodate up to 3,516 lbs and offers a substantial cargo volume of 319 cubic feet. Conversely, the longer 170” wheelbase paired with a high roof and the 81 kWh battery provides an even more expansive 488 cubic feet of cargo space, with a payload capacity of up to 3,120 lbs. Notably, this configuration increases payload capacity by nearly 500 lbs compared to the same setup with the 113 kWh battery. Across all variants, the 2025 eSprinter maintains a permissible gross vehicle weight of up to 9,370 lbs.
Iain Forsyth, Director of Product Management and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Vans USA, emphasizes the customer-centric approach: “Daily delivery vehicles generally follow a fixed predictable route that is usually under 150 miles – making the eSprinter the perfect solution for last-mile-deliveries. However, businesses have different needs when it comes to range, cargo volume and payload. It’s important to us to expand our product mix and provide options that tailor to their specific commercial purpose.”
Efficient Performance and Flexible Charging
The 2025 eSprinter is powered by a highly efficient permanent magnet synchronous motor, available in 100 kW or 150 kW peak power outputs, delivering up to 295 ft.-lb of torque. The 81 kWh battery provides an electric range of up to 329 kilometers (approximately 204 miles) based on WLTP testing, making it well-suited for urban last-mile delivery operations. For extended range requirements, the 113 kWh battery option offers up to 478 kilometers (around 297 miles).
Both the 81 kWh and 113 kWh battery options support both alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) charging. Fast DC charging at up to 115 kW can replenish the 81 kWh battery from 10 to 80 percent capacity in just over 30 minutes, minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency.
Mercedes-Benz is committed to enhancing the EV charging experience, offering access to an extensive network of nearly 100,000 public charging points nationwide through the Mercedes me Charge service. Furthermore, the Mercedes-Benz Charging Network is setting new benchmarks for fast, reliable, and premium EV charging infrastructure, aiming to accelerate EV adoption across North America for all EV brands. Complementing this public infrastructure, the new Mercedes-Benz Wallbox provides a convenient and intelligent home charging solution for eSprinter owners.
For commercial fleets, Mercedes-Benz USA’s collaboration with ChargePoint facilitates access to Fleet Depot Charging, offering tailored charging hardware, telematics, and software solutions to optimize fleet operations.
The New Mercedes-Benz Sprinter: Enhanced Safety and Intelligence
For nearly three decades, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has been a defining force in the light commercial vehicle segment, synonymous with large van excellence and adaptability. The 2025 Sprinter continues this legacy, offering exceptional versatility across configurations, from cab chassis to cargo and passenger vans, with rear- or all-wheel drive options, and a maximum gross vehicle weight of up to 12,125 lbs. All models now feature the smooth 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, with all-wheel-drive available on select models. This breadth of options makes the Sprinter a preferred choice for upfitters, with over 75 percent of commercial Sprinters being customized for specific industry applications, ranging from delivery and logistics to passenger transport and specialized vehicles like ambulances and recreational vehicles.
The 2025 Sprinter elevates safety, comfort, and digital integration while maintaining its renowned flexibility. The optional MBUX multimedia system features a 10.25-inch touchscreen display and a color instrument cluster, both controllable via touch control panels on the new multifunction steering wheel. This high-tech steering wheel incorporates capacitive sensors for hands-off detection, enhancing safety and convenience. An optional smartphone storage tray with wireless charging further adds to the cabin’s practicality.
Latest Generation MBUX and Digital Enhancements
Both the 2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and eSprinter benefit from the latest generation MBUX multimedia system, featuring a 10.25-inch display with increased processing power and refined menu navigation. The intelligent voice assistant is now even more intuitive, capable of executing certain commands without the “Hey Mercedes” activation phrase. The voice assistant utilizes microphones in the optional overhead control panel to identify the speaker’s seat, personalizing functions like seat heating activation. “Hey Mercedes” can also explain vehicle functions and assist with smartphone Bluetooth pairing. Wireless smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is now standard, and over-the-air (OTA) updates facilitate seamless software upgrades and feature enhancements.
A particularly useful MBUX feature is the rear space display, which uses the rearview camera to project a hatched area on the central display indicating the clearance needed for opening the rear doors. This programmable distance enhances loading and unloading convenience, allowing drivers to assess space requirements without exiting the vehicle. The camera view is also displayed when the rear doors are opened for improved visibility.
The MBUX system, in conjunction with the Mercedes me connect app, unlocks a suite of digital extras, enhancing the intelligence and convenience of the Sprinter and 2025 eSprinter. Free services like maintenance, accident, and breakdown management, along with remote services such as door locking and unlocking, are easily accessible via the Mercedes me connect app. New features include satellite view and improved navigation tailored for trailers and oversized vehicles.
For fleets with mixed-brand vehicles, Mercedes-Benz offers the flexibility to monitor operations from a unified interface through authorized telematics providers. The 2025 eSprinter integrates seamlessly into the Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle ecosystem, featuring intelligent navigation with active range management and cloud-based services and apps. This ensures optimized route planning, charging strategies, and pre-conditioning for efficient and stress-free journeys.
