Mercedes Amphitheatre in Tuscaloosa Announces New Talent Booking Partnership

The Mercedes-Benz Amphitheatre in Tuscaloosa, a prominent venue for live music and events, is entering a new era as the city of Tuscaloosa partners with Danny Wimmer Presents Talent Services, LLC (DWP) for talent booking. This marks a significant shift for the amphitheatre, which has been working with Birmingham’s Red Mountain Entertainment since its opening in 2011. The decision not to renew the contract with Red Mountain Entertainment, which expires at the end of this year, signals a fresh direction for the venue as it aims to enhance its offerings and attract a broader range of performances.

Red Mountain Entertainment has been a key collaborator since the venue, originally named the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater, first opened its doors over 13 years ago. They booked the inaugural show with the Avett Brothers and have consistently brought a diverse array of acts to the stage ever since. However, as Tuscaloosa City Council looked towards the future of the Mercedes Amphitheatre, they voted to explore a new partnership.

Mayor Walt Maddox acknowledged the significant contribution of Red Mountain Entertainment in a public statement. “Red Mountain Entertainment has played a vital role in the creation and growth of the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater,” he said, recognising their foundational work. “Their dedication and efforts have laid a strong foundation for us to build upon.” This change comes as the Mercedes Amphitheatre is undergoing significant upgrades and developments. The venue was recently renamed to the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater to reflect the strong relationship with Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, a major local employer. Furthermore, city officials are considering a comprehensive 10-year plan to further transform and modernise the space, ensuring it remains a top-tier destination for live entertainment.

The new agreement with Danny Wimmer Presents Talent Services, LLC was unanimously approved by the Tuscaloosa City Council. Danny Wimmer Presents is a well-regarded name in the entertainment industry, known for producing large-scale music festivals and events across the United States. This partnership is expected to bring a fresh perspective and new opportunities to the Mercedes Amphitheatre, potentially attracting a wider variety of artists and events to Tuscaloosa.

“Over the past 13 years, the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater has become a vital part of our City’s legacy and a hub for economic development,” Mayor Maddox further stated. “We are excited to continue to grow this legacy with Danny Wimmer Presents as we strive to bring in new talent and create unforgettable experiences for our community.” The city anticipates that this new collaboration will build upon the existing success of the Mercedes Amphitheatre, enhancing its role as a cultural and economic driver for Tuscaloosa and the surrounding region.
