Design Your Dream F1 Mercedes Livery 2017 with This Free Template

Are you an avid Formula 1 fan fascinated by car designs, especially the iconic Mercedes liveries? Back in 2017, the Formula 1 landscape was on the cusp of significant aerodynamic changes, sparking immense curiosity about how the cars would look. Like many fans eager to visualize these transformations, I wanted to create my own interpretations of the 2017 F1 car designs. Inspired by discussions and fan-made concepts, particularly around teams like McLaren, I decided to take matters into my own hands and develop my own livery template.

Drawing inspiration from Giorgio Piola’s detailed breakdown of the 2017 regulations, I crafted a clean, adaptable template. While I experimented with various team liveries, including imagining how a striking F1 Mercedes Livery 2017 might appear, I realized the potential for the F1 community to explore their own creative visions was even greater. Therefore, I’m sharing this template with you, allowing you to unleash your inner designer and create stunning liveries, perhaps even your own unique f1 mercedes livery 2017 concept!

Unleash Your Creativity: The Modular 2017 F1 Livery Template

Below is the base model template, designed for ease of use and customization. Its modular structure within Photoshop makes it incredibly simple to adapt and personalize.

The beauty of this template lies in its modularity. By utilizing Adobe Photoshop’s layer functionality, creating unique designs becomes an intuitive process. Opening the layers window (typically accessed by pressing F7 in Photoshop) reveals the organized structure. To begin crafting your own f1 mercedes livery 2017 or any other team’s design, simply right-click on the folder labeled ‘base’ and select ‘duplicate group’. This action generates a new, independent folder which I recommend dragging into the ‘concepts’ folder for organized workflow, as seen in the example below.

To start painting your livery, CTRL+left-click on the ‘basecolor’ layer within your duplicated group. This automatically selects the car’s body, confining your brush strokes within the vehicle’s lines, allowing you to freely experiment with colors and patterns without worrying about going outside the defined areas. This feature is perfect for creating detailed designs, whether you’re aiming for a realistic f1 mercedes livery 2017 or a completely imaginative concept.

Livery Concepts and Inspiration

To give you a starting point and showcase the template’s versatility, here are a few concept liveries I created. These were designed with a realistic approach, avoiding overly extravagant styles, and aim to represent potential team designs, or perhaps even inspire your own f1 mercedes livery 2017 creation.

And for a bit of fun, here’s a concept inspired by the Reddit F1 community for the (now defunct) Manor team in 2017:

I am eager to see the incredible liveries you design using this template! Please share your creations – especially if you decide to tackle an f1 mercedes livery 2017 – I’d love to see your interpretations. If you have any questions about using the template, don’t hesitate to ask; I’m happy to assist you in your design journey.

P.S. For Analog Designers
